Paniai is a very old regency, with the need for expansion, allegedly by some local elites, resulting in the formation of other regencies such as Deiyai, Dogiyai and Intan Jaya. These districts in our local vernacular are called meuwodide or regions with similar traditions. Its civilization is built on evangelism so that the people here hold fast to the gospel message and the church.

Paniai and the surrounding districts are for me an exotic place because they are geologically shaped and form lakes and valleys in the highlands such as Lake Paniai, Lake Tage and Lake Tigi, and Kamuu valley in Dogiay district. The Meuwodide region is now a diverse area as a number of migrant tribes live and thrive here, they also spread development for various fields including a number of basic services.

Meuwodide is interesting in terms of physiography and geology because it has a number of minerals and rocks that are quite old. Lake Paniai itself is a central protein source for several species of fish and freshwater shrimp that live in the lake habitat. The lake is also an access point for speedboads for the people who live around the lake.

On the sides of Lake Paniai there are hills and high mountains that certainly beautify the landscape with natural mosiacs such as rock, limestone and swamp on the shores of Lake Paniai.

Local government is encouraging the development of coffee which is expected to become a superior product in the future and can improve the family economy in this district. But the community has the potential for abundant lake fisheries and commodity products that are processed with traditional organics without the use of chemicals on plants.
